Under UV a blemish visible to front of neck- and small crack visible suggesting retouching. With some loss to painted surface- notably to extremities and to sides of nose. A WHITE MARBLE BUST OF VENUS D'ARLES 19TH CENTURY Set on socle base 65cm high overall, base 18.5cm wide The Venus of Arles dates to the end of the 1st century BC. It was discovered, broken, in the Roman Theatre of Arles in 1651 by workmen who were digging a well. The head was the first part to be found. Reassembled and restored in part by Girardon, it was displayed by Louis XIV in the Galerie des Glaces of Versailles. During the Revolution it was seized and then placed into the Musée du Louvre. Condition Report: Weathering and with various layers of old paint. Some of the paint hiding infill to natural flaws and losses to and around nose. The Parian Phenomenon, Shepton Beauchamp 1989, fig. 841, p. 248 for an identical bust, apart from the titles, by John Wilson, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. Perhaps they sold on the moulds.
JOYCE MORGAN (20th Century) A portrait of a man depicted bust-length in a studio interior, signed to the stretcher verso, oil on canvas, 60 x 50cm (unframed on stretcher) . Joyce Morgan was better known for her work as a paintress for Chelsea Pottery. Provenance: The residual contents of Claveys Farmhouse, Mells Green, Somerset.

The collection to include an 1820 King George III LX crown coin, having laureate bust to obverse and George slaying the dragon to reverse, alongside two 1889 and one 1895 Queen Victoria crown coins. Also to include a collection of 18th and 19th century three and sixpence coins, three 1977 Queen Elizabeth II silver jubilee crown coins, two 1965 Churchill crown coins, and a selection of other British and Foreign coins.
