A 19th Century French ebonised and Boulle bookcase of "Regence" design with gilt brass mouldings and mounts, the arched pediment centred with a gilt brass bust of a classical maiden flanked by turned finials, the interior veneered in birdseye maple and fitted five adjustable shelves enclosed by a pair of doors with glazed upper panels and Boulle lower panels decorated with urns of flowers and leaf scrolls, flanked by mounts with female busts and leaf scroll ornament, on turned feet, 45ins wide x 71ins high
Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector, a silver crown piece, 1658 by Thomas Simon, laureate and draped bust left, OLIVAR.D.G.P.ANG.SCO.HIB &c PRO., rev. crowned arms of the protectorate, PAX.QVAERITVR.BELLO, lettered edge HAS. NISI. PERITVRVS.MIHI.ADIMAT.NEMO ESC 10; S.3226). Very fine and toned, the usual die flaw in an early stage.
