GARRICK DAVID: (1717-1779) English Actor. A.L.S., D Garrick, two pages, 4to, Naples, n.d. (`Fryday Morning`; c.1763-65), to Monsieur Kaye in Rome. Garrick states that he has received his correspondent`s letter and `shall take great care of the Commissions that you have honoured me with` adding that he hopes to be in Rome shortly, `We hope to kiss yr. hands on Tuesday evening & tho we have no good prospect from the weather we are in the best spirits in spite of want of bread.` In a postscript the actor remarks `Two English gentlemen arrived last night from Rome`. With integral address leaf bearing the remnants of a red wax seal featuring a bust portrait. Some light overall age wear, about VG Garrick made the Grand Tour during 1763-65 visiting Paris, Turin, Milan, Florence, Rome, Naples (where he stayed for three months), Venice and Munich.
Ireland copper penny of 1805 or 1822, Spink 6620 or 6623 or a mixture of both? a strange piece the obverse with bust normal and to the right, the legend retrograde and incuse and looks to be of too small font, reverse with the normal harp but with large crown above and strings to wrong way a little legend visible, again retrograde but looks of normal font, Poor but a very interesting piece
