BRONZE BUST - PERCY BRYANT BAKER (1881-1970) a bronze bust of a Girl, Audrey, the bust mounted on an oak plinth. Signed on the side, To Edwin Smith from his friend P Bryant Baker, 1912. 12 1/4ins (31cms) high *Percy Bryant Baker was a British born American Sculptor. He made a number of busts of famous Americans (including 5 Presidents), and in 1910 he was commissioned by Queen Alexandra to create a bust of King Edward VII.

A c.1900 carved alabaster bust of a girl wearing a hat with lace brim, on cylindrical base with spreading circular foot, unmarked, height 55cm. CONDITION REPORT: Traces of wear and small nibbles to some of the raised parts, predominantly to the hat and its front part. An area of approx 3.5cm of losses along the edge of the base and a few smaller areas. Hairline crack to the base, probably to the inclusion where the alabaster is. Some dirt and minor wear to the surface. Base stable. A few other inclusions.

H&G state about 50 envelopes were prepared, Sismondo states 'only 36'. Extremely rare in used condition Mauritius specialist piece (image available) [US8]
