The family descends from Pierce à Court, MP for Heytesbury in Wiltshire 1722-24, whose grandson, also MP was made a Baronet in 1795; his oldest son was created Baron Heytesbury in 1828. The eldest son of Lord Heytesbury's youngest brother was Charles Henry Wyndham à Court, for whom this seal was mounted.
