This example is of the E Avern type based on Pistrucci’s official coronation medal and which was distributed to, and worn by, the Buckinghamshire Yeomanry Cavalry Hussars who acted as escort on Coronation day. 1866 Fenian Raid, Veteran Association Medal. A bronze and gilt eight-pointed star the central boss with a bust of Victoria before a maple leaf, surrounded by the inscription, 'Veterans' Association 1866', on red, white and blue ribbon with additional red ribbon inscribed, 'Committee 1899'. Between 1866 and 1871, the Fenian Brotherhood, based in the USA, launched raids on British army forts, customs posts and other targets in Canada, to bring pressure on Britain to withdraw from Ireland. There were five Fenian raids of note and all of them ended in failure.

18th century English school - Bust portrait of a lady wearing a pearl necklace and jewelled silk dress, oil on oak panel, 38 x 30cm Condition Report / Extra Information Has been cleaned back.Paint good and stable.Some fine crazing but no breaking out.UV light shows some modest overpainting to left cheek, chin and neck.Some minor touching-in all over.We would suggest mid-18th century.Oak panel good.Annotated to frame.

A carved shell cameo brooch/pendant, depicting the bust of Mars in an elaborate helmet, indistinctly signed, measures 6cm by 4.6cm The cameo is in good condition. The frame is stamped '8K' with Italian marks and in our opinion would test as gold. It fastens with a pin and safety catch and has a ring linked bail. Condition Report made 21st June 2017.
An amethyst reverse intaglio ring, a round cut amethyst engraved with the bust of Mars, in a yellow collet setting, on a plain polished shank, finger size R1/2The ring is in good condition. It is not hallmarked or stamped and in our opinion would test as gold. The head measures 19mm in diameter. Gross weight 7.6 grams. Condition Report made 27th June 2017.
A carved sardonyx cameo stick pin, depicting the bust of Mars, cameo measures 2.5cm by 2cm, in a fitted case The stick pin is in good condition. The cameo is in good condition with no losses or damage noted. It is not hallmarked or stamped but in our opinion would test as gold. Gross weight 5.6 grams. Condition Report made 6th July 2017.
A porcelain oval plaque, painted with the bust of a lady wearing a pendant on a blue ribbon with an open collar, mounted as a brooch/pendant, measures 5.7cm by 4.5cm The plaque is in good condition. There are small surface scratches, including one to an eye. The edge is worn slightly. The frame is later. It fastens with a pin and safety catch. The frame is not hallmarked or stamped but in our opinion would test as gold. Gross weight 21.2 grams. Condition Report made 2nd August 2017.
A carved conch shell cameo brooch/pendant, depicting the bust of a Bacchante, within a black enamel frame set with seed pearls, measures 4.5cm by 3.8cm The brooch is in good condition. It fastens with a pin and c-hook and has a hinged loop for attaching a bail (bail not present). There is light wear to the seed pearls and enamel. Gross weight 16.2 grams. Condition Report made 28th June 2017.
