Attributed to John Bulfinch (British, 1680-1720), portrait miniature of King Charles II after Ryley, bust-length, ink and wash, 16.5 by 13cm, gilt frame. Provenance: inscription verso states that the work was purchased at Sotheby's from the Collection of Sir Bruce Ingram (1877-1963) and that it has been examined by The British Museum and The National Portrait Gallery in 1965

In front of a darkened background, the slightly right-facing bust portrait of a man in advanced age with a white ruff tracing a tilting oval in space. The black cloak, reworked at a later date, is discreetly accentuated by light-reflecting edges. Restored.
Auguste Rodin, 1840 Paris – 1917 Meudon, zug.BÜSTE EINES JUNGEN MÄDCHENS „SUZON“Höhe: 40 cm.Seitlich signiert „A Rodin“.Feiner, schön ausgearbeiteter Bronzeguss, in Kaltarbeit nachziseliert, gelbgoldfarbene Bronze, der Kopf leicht nach links gerichtet, der Büstenansatz zieht oval, darüber die herabfallenden Locken. Das Stirnhaar gewellt. Der runde, gekehlte Sockel separat gearbeitet, jedoch zugehörig. Die Büste zählt zu den frühen Werken Rodins, entstanden 1872/73 und ist die erste Frauenbüste, die der Bildhauer noch unter dem Einfluss der Plastik des späten 18. Jahrhunderts schuf und zwar in der Zeit, als Rodin während des Deutsch-Französischen Krieges in seinem Exil in Brüssel schuf. Die Arbeit verstand Rodin als Hommage an den Bildhauer Carrier-Belleuse, der sich damals ebenfalls im Exil befand. Mehrere Ausführungen dieser Büste sind bekannt, in Marmor, Guss, aber auch in Sèvres-Porzellan. A.R. The head is turned slightly to the left, with curls tumbling over the bust, the base of which is oval-shaped. This is one of Rodin’s early works, created in 1872/73 and his first female bust.

An Italian mid or third quarter 19th century specimen marble and hardstone top set in a near contemporary giltwood gueridon or centre tablethe top: 1845-1860; the table: 1860-1875The circular top with a roundel inlaid with three concentric six-pointed stars, the central star inset with assorted marble tesserae and a smaller conforming star motif, encompassed by sixteen radiating segments of various specimens, within a complex chevron border, on three acanthus wrapped, volute scrolled and floral swagged griffin monopodiae, each headed by a carved griffin bust and terminating in lion paw feet, joined by foliate clasped and bhusk pendant capped scrolled stretchers surmounted by an urn finial, on a concave tripartite base with three scrolled feet, remnants of an old depository label to the underside, approximate diameter of the whole top: 66cm; 77cm high approximately.Footnotes:An Italian mid-19th century specimen marble top of similar design to the one surmounting the present lot appears illustrated in E. Jef LAMBEAUX (1852-1908) 'Bust of a young lady' patinated bronze.With an inscription;' 'La Fanfare Libérale d'anderlecht à son Président, a l'occasion de sa nomination de Bourgemestre. Le 13 juin 1919.' The bust was given as a present from the liberal fanfare of Anderlecht to their president, Fernand Demets, who later became the mayor of Anderlecht in 1919. A CASED PAIR OF GERMAN (SAXON) 54 BORE PERCUSSION RIFLED TARGET PISTOLS BY ULBRICH, DRESDEN, CIRCA 1840 with blued octagonal sighted barrels cut with polygroove rifling and additional wide grooves, inlaid with a thin and thick gold line at the breech and muzzle, inscribed 'Canon d'acier anglais' in gold script on the flats, engraved breeches fitted with pierced platinum plug on the right and chiselled with a gold-eyed dolphin bust on the left, scroll-engraved tangs with adjustable back-sights and numbered ‘1’ and ‘2’ in silver respectively, engraved back-action locks signed in gold, decorated with scroll and border ornament, fitted with hammers en suite and detents, varnished figured half-stocks carved with foliage on the fore-ends, fluted butts,, engraved iron mounts including side-plates en suite with the locks, and spurred trigger-guards and shaped moulded butt-caps, and some early case-hardened finish: in a later lined and fitted case with modern embossed copper flask decorated with game and a hound, 21.5 cm barrels (2)

A very rare Henry Brome 1st edition Geographical Cards playing cards circa 1675, engraved by F H van Houe, hand coloured, held in purpose made conservator’s box -4in. (10cm.) height of card — the four suits are the four Parts of the World; the hearts describe Europe, the diamonds Asia, the spades Africa, and the clubs America or the West Indies. A suit-mark and Roman numeral at the top identify each pip card, while the court cards have a bust of a kings or queen, knaves represented by a native of a country listed on that card

The coat is lined in chocolate satin and the internal pocket has the monogram ML, Bust 112cm (1) With CITES No stains, tears, smells or moulting. Lining is good and strong. Skin is visible along the top of the lapel edge. This appears like a parting rather than balding
