AN ANTHONY REDMILE WHITE COMPOSITE BUST OF NAPOLEON BONAPARTE AS CEASARModern With laurel crown round his head, NAPOLÉON inscribed below the bust, stamped AR to the reverse, 62cm highThis model is inspired after an example by Antoine-Denis Chaudet (French, 1763–1810), who, in 1799, carved the archetypal Napoleon Bonaparte portrait bust in marble. The Sevres porcelain factory then disseminated the image widely throughout the Empire, reproduced in a biscuit porcelain.
