Decorated with a bust of Poseidon with a trident at the bottom right. Printed by Haeggstrom Litho, Stockholm, Sweden. Good condition, foxing, creasing, small tears. Hunter, William (born at Long Calderwood, May 23rd, 1718 – Died died on 30th March 1783) he was an anatomist and obstetrician, eventually confined his practice to midwifery and was appointed ‘Physician Extraordinary’ to Queen Charlotte in 1764, elected an F.R.S. in 1767 and in the following year became Professor of Anatomy to the Royal Academy, his collection of coins and medals, together with the rest of his extensive museum was bequeathed to Glasgow University with an endowment of £8,000.
