An interesting carved black stone head of a Buddha with hair swept into a top knot, mounted on a triangular shaped wooden base. With a hand written label on one side, 'Buddhist art, from a stupa in the Swat valley, North West frontier of India (now Pakistan), circa 120AD'. Bust approx 12cms high, 15cms high with stand. *This was inherited from the vendors Grandmother, so has certainly been in the family from the early 20thc if not before. *CR The bust has some chips in places including the nose, face, and ears in places, the face also has some surface cracks in places.
