(1723 - 1792) Framed, unsigned, oil on canvas, bust length portrait of Dr Samuel Johnson (1709 - 1784), in dark jacket, white chemise and grey wig, inscribed on stretcher verso, `Samuel Johnson/ by Reynolds`. Reynolds original c. 1756, hangs in the permanent collection of The National Portrait Gallery, London, 49cm x 39cm.
WEDGWOOD-LESTER PIGGOTT Wedgwood black basalt head and shoulders bust of Lester Piggott which comes complete with original box. Comes with Wedgwood certificate certifying it as number 35/500. Height is 22.5cm and is from an original bronze by Helen Cox. A four page booklet describing Piggott`s career achievements is included. The bust has the Wedgwood trademark. Very good

Clearly dated and signed in Russian in black ink to lower margin ""Leo Tolstoy, March 6, 1901"". Original mount of photographer Scharer and Nabholz in Moscow. Overall size 16.3 x 10.1cm. Age toning to picture. Ink slightly faded on signature and a couple of smudges on the date. Minor browning to mount edges and wear to upper margin on printed rear, but nevertheless an impressive item.
