MDXLIX, Tower I, mm. arrow, bust 1, transposed legends, 3.68g/7h (N 1918/1; S 2465). Striking crack at 9 o’clock and centres a little weak but face clear, nearly very fine, rare Provenance: P.D. Greenall Collection, Part II, Baldwin Auction 13, 28 May 1997, lot 1803. The testoon or shilling, revived as a base silver denomination in 1549, was cried down to sixpence on 16 August 1551, hence the inclusion of coins of this denomination in the collection
