Pre-WW1 Imperial German Presentation Shooting Prize Statue of the Kaiser, fine bronze painted cast alloy bust of the Kaiser in full military regalia mounted onto a turned wooden plinth with plaque having engraved presentation “Entfernungsmefspreis der Infanterie-Schiessschule 1909”. Artist signature mark to the reverse of the bust. Stands 28 ½ cms tall. Accompanied by a paper card patriotic postcard frame of the Kaiser and Austrian Emperor. (2 items)
Pre-WW2 Presentation Statue in the Hero of the German Army Form, fine bronze bust of the Hero of the German army wearing steel combat helmet. Mounted onto a marble base with engraved brass presentation plaque, awarded in 1931 by the NCO’s and enlisted men of Sanitätsstaffel Frankfurt (0der) to Generalarzt Dr Gerlach. Statue stands 30cms tall.
Ca.300 AD. Beautiful upper part of a bust showing a lovely head of a goddess in grey-brown schist typical to the Swat Valley. The finely crafted head is that of a woman with a full and oval face, long hair with well-defined strands falling to the shoulders, beautifully wrapped in a turban. The hairstyle is of Greek inspiration, depicting nicely curled and locks which are fastened high up into a bun placed atop the skull. The back of the sculpture is flat; it would have been affixed to the wall of a Stupa. Ca.1000 AD. Rare Indian sandstone bust of Naga. Naga in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism, the divine, semi-divine deities, or a semi-divine race of half-human half-serpent beings that reside in the netherworld (Patala) and can occasionally take human form. They are principally depicted in three forms: wholly humans with snakes on the heads and necks; common serpents or as half-human half-snake beings.[2] A female naga is a "nagi", "nagin", or "nagini". Nagaraja is seen as the king of n?gas and n?ginis. [3] They are common and hold cultural significance in the mythological traditions of many South Asian and Southeast Asian cultures. Powerfully and naturalistically carved bust of a bearded ascetic man with his wavy hair Deep wrinkles above the finely chiselled nose.Sunken eyes with shaped lids below angular carved, raised eyebrows, gaunt cheeks, and a bow-shaped mouth with full lips; Presumably a representation of a bearded VAJRAPANI figure, holding an offering bowl. Overall vajrapāṇi is one of the earliest-appearing bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism. In fine condition, well centred, good quality silver, well detailed. Interesting type - this coin refers to the Public Games. It was in the Ludi Apollinares a rider raced with two horses vaulting from one to the other.
