A Victorian white marble bust of a gentleman, wearing classical robes, on a turned circular socle, overall 71cm high x 51cm wide, bust is fairly heavily weathered and stained from exposure to the elements, tip of nose is damaged.Provenance: This bust previously graced the entrance to the Honiton Pottery; it was installed in the 1930s by the business’s second owner, Charles Collard. Although the pottery was opened in 1881 by James Webber, it was Collard who built it up into a world-renowned business, with its innovative and instantly recognisable designs. Originally there were four busts, just three remained when Paul Redvers took over the Honiton Pottery in the 1960s.

A trial piece produced by Paget for a 25 New Pence piece celebrating the Silver (25th) Wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The bust would not be used officially until 2017.Thomas Humphrey Paget OBE (1893-1974) was an extremely accomplished coin and medal designer and modeller.
