A marble bust of Brian Hubert Hill (1847-1893), late 19th century, on a rectangular plinth incised on reverse 'Gaffin Sc.Lon', 23" high. Brian Hubert Hill was a Land Agent. His early death was the result of a hunting accident and he is buried in the church at Weston under Redcastle. The west window was given in memory of him. His widow had the bust made from his death mask. The sculptor Thomas Gaffin, son of Edward Gaffin, worked with his father at their workshop in Regent Street where they were renowned for their prolific production of monuments and memorial tablets, running into thousands. Works by the Gaffin firm include Lord Clyde at Westminster Abbey, 1863 and Sir Thomas Reade Congleton, Cheshire 1849
English School (18th century) Portrait of a gentleman, bust length, wearing a rust-coloured jacket Watercolour on ivory Oval 4cm x 3cm Mounted in a gold brooch setting Provenance: by descent from Frank Arthur Cecil Richardson (1874-1940) and Winifred Eva Richardson (1878-1945); it is not clear whether it passed through the maternal or paternal line.
A dated Hispano Moresque portrait charger, the cavetto with slightly raised centre decorated in copper lustre with the bust of a soldier in profile wearing a tunic, helmet and feather on a ground of stylized foliage and florets within a panelled border, bearing the date 1613, 34.5cm. diameter, significant damage, 17th century.
