A W.H.Kerr & Co, Worcester parian bust of a young Prince Albert,circa 1855,sculpted by E.J Jones,printed mark in blue and impressed 'E.J Jones Sculptor',35.5cm highPrince-Consort Alfred Ernest Albert (1819-1861) was the son of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and married Queen Victoria in 1840. His considerable influence extended to matters of social and political concern and he was the originator of the International Exhibition held at Crystal Palace in 1851. Following his death from typhoid, the Queen entered complete seclusion for two years and never ceased to wear mourning.
A rare Staffordshire parian bust of Captain Matthew Webb, circa 1875, depicting the moustached swimmer wearing three medals to his tunic, on waisted socle, inscribed to the reverse "Published as the Act directs by J S CRAPPER of HANLEY and C MARSH of WOLSTANTON by special consent and assistance of CAPTAIN MATTHEW WEBB December 6th 1875", 40cm high (damage to one medal)Captain Matthew Webb was the first man to swim the English Channel from Dover to Calais on 24th and 25th August 1875 in twenty-one hours and forty-five minutes, covering a total distance of fifty miles.

Marshall,printed with a verse by Tennyson, impressed marks, the socle further impressed 'Crystal Palace Art Union', 29cm high.In Greek mythology, Oenone was the first wife of Paris of Troy, whom he abandoned for the Queen Helen of Sparta. Tennyson's poem, after the same name, describes the Greek mythological character Oenone and her witnessing incidents in the life of her lover, Paris, as he is involved in the events of the Trojan War.

A Minton parian figure of William Shakespeare by John Bell,mid-19th century, 45.5cm highSee Paul Atterbury, The Parian Phenomenon, fig. 133, p. 86 and fig. 37, p. 25. A full scale plaster statue, after the bust over the Poet's tomb at Stratford-upon-Avon, was shown by Bell at the Great Exhibition in 1851. Summerley's Art Manufactures exhibited the parian version by Minton at the same time, surmounting a bronze clock flanked by figures of Tragedy and Comedy.
