ISLAMIC COINS, COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS, Egypt, Khedive Abbas Hilmi II (1892-1914), Dedication of the National Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, Cairo, 1897, Silver Medal, by Séraphin Emil Vernier, obv uniformed bust left wearing fez, rev crest and open wreath, legend in Arabic and French naming the Khedive, Minister, Director and Architect, stamped ARGENT 950 M/M on edge, 70mm (BDM VI:227). Nearly extremely fine, toned and very rare. The first Egyptian Museum was built in Boulak, but in 1891 it was moved to the Giza Palace. The present Museum, with its 107 halls and which this medal commemorates, is situated in the Tahrir Square in Cairo.Building work commenced in 1897 and it opened on the 15th November, 1902 Vernier dates his obverse portrait 1896
A 20th century French gilt brass and enamelled carriage timepiece, the shaped case with silvered chapter ring and gilt scroll centre, the movement with frosted platform lever escapement, 13cm high with handle folded #200-300 (illustrated page 109) 783. A decorative Victorian brass mantel clock, electroplate mounted with various literary motifs and topped with a bust of Shakespeare, the foliate scroll relief dial with silvered hands and bell striking drum movement, all raised on disc feet, 52.5cm high, 31.5cm wide
A Gien pottery charger, late 19th Century, the central convex medallion painted with the bust of a man within a turquoise frame, the rim with panels of classical figures within Renaissance style scrollwork, blue printed mark to base, diameter approx 28.5cm, together with a similarly decorated Gien pottery ewer (faults).

Tiny metal flaw on cheek, very fine.

First extremely fine, second about very fine/good fine, last with slight corrosion on the reverse, nice patina, good very fine/very fine. (3)

Small banker’s marks, a good portrait of Antony, well-centred and attractively toned, fine/very fine.
