Y W J Tiffin (Salisbury mid-19th Century) miniature portrait of a young lady, almost certainly on ivory, signed, inscribed and dated 1849 verso, watercolour and bodycolour, 8.5 x 7cm, ebonised frame with acorn hanger, glazed ; and an early 19th century silhouette miniature of a young woman in profile, inscribed in pen to reverse "My grandmother Ellen *** at the age of 18 **** March 23 1816, Nee Servers, died 1871"; and a pair of early 19th century gilt metal medallion casts after Halliday depicting Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington, bust in oval frame, angel and radiate crown above, and equestrian figure of Blücher trampling a bespectacled figure, in ebonised frames, casts 7cm diameter (4) It has been suggested that the sitter in the second miniature is Ellen Baker, Nee Severs, who married George Keyworth Baker of York (please see lot 191 Dreweatts auction 27 May 2021 for a portrait of Mr Baker by William Moore Snr) Condition Report: glass pitted and scratched- dirt underneath- surface looks to have dirt to varnish- frame split Silhouette- browned and faded- frame as found Casts- look to be in crisp good condition- backings have perished and some insect ingress Condition Report Disclaimer
