Patrick MacDowell (1799-1870) - A large and important portrait bust probably WIlliam Cubitt (1791-1863) Lord Mayor of London 1860-1862, draped in Roman style on a short socle base, signed P.Mac.Dowell.R.A Sculp, the support marked London, 77 x 56cm approx *MacDowell was elected ARA in 1841 and R.A in 1846, MacDowell exhibited works in the Great Exhibition of 1851, including figure of 'Europe', on of the four great groups encircling the Albert Memorial and statue of J.M.W Turner in St Pauls Cathedral

A fine quality 19th Century hand painted Vienna porcelain vase Of musical interested, depicting a central bust of a lady surrounded by multi coloured relief jewelled and gilt decoration, with musical instruments, the lower body with a lustrous glaze, signed by Wagner, painted factory marks and inscribed Gitoionl depose 950 and numbered 5275/950 to base, height 16cm CONDITION REPORT: Three very minor light scratches to ladies hair approx. 0.5mm long, very minor wear to part of the gilt collar, usual light wear to gilt but good clean condition.
John Bailey (act. 1851-1857)/Marble Bust of Lieutenant-General Duncan McLeod on a plinth, inscribed on base 'I Bailey Sculpt PADDINGTON 1853', the bust 81cm high, the plinth 112cm high/Note: Lieutenant-General Duncan McLeod (c.1780-1856) of the Bengal Engineers was a skilled engineer responsible for the building of numerous roads and bridges during his years of service. His crowning achievement was the Italianate style Moorshedabad Palace (also known as Nizamat Kila (the Fortress of the Nawabs) or the Hazaarduari Palace (Palace of a Thousand Doors)) 1829-1837/see illustration Condition Report: Lot 174: Bust in good condition, just some light surface dirt. Plinth has bad chipping/losses to the rim at the top and some old restoration. This will need professional restoration.
William Brodie (Scottish 1815 - 1881)/Bust of a Young Child/possibly the artist's daughter/signed W Brodie RSA Sc1879/white marble, 36.5cm high/Note: In 1880 Brodie exhibited a bust of his daughter at The Royal Scottish Academy, the present lot could be the one exhibited.
