His crowning achievement was the Italianate style Moorshedabad Palace (also known as Nizamat Kila (the Fortress of the Nawabs) or the Hazaarduari Palace (Palace of a Thousand Doors)) 1829-1837/see illustration Condition Report: Lot 174: Bust in good condition, just some light surface dirt. In 1818 he travelled to Rome, supported by his patron Gilbert Innes, where he set up studio and became associated with other sculptors such as Canova.
