G.GDS. three ribbon bars, a silver Parish of Madeley European War 1914-1918 medal, detailed 'Presented to G. Jones.M.M.', cased, a Grenadier Guards association enamelled badge, a portrait photograph, in a horseshoe shaped frame, mounted with badges. John Lennon-style bust by Dodo Design, 1960s A wonderful handpainted papier maché bust, if not intended to be most certainly based on, John Lennon. The base bears the painted makers details Irenie Dodo Design Made In England. Dodo Design was a company based in Covent Garden most famous for commissioning Peter Blake to produce the iconic Babe Rainbow tinplate poster in 1968. The bust additionally has a scarf tied about the neck designed by Chester Martin, London. Condition: Some paint missing from the top of the head , some cracking to surface scarf discoloured and torn in places. Measures approx. 17.5 inch. (44 cm) £100-150US$180.00-270.00

Joachim Smith British 1737-1814 Portrait bust of a gentleman signed J.S Fecit and dated 1771 wax with polychrome decoration the miniature bust on a painted glass ground contained within an ebonsised moulded circular frame together with two wax miniature portait busts after James Tassie 1735-1799 circa 1900 both signed Tassie one inscribed 'Mrs Anne Stewart Edin. [Edinburgh] 1795' and the other inscribed 'Robert Adam Architect died 4 March 1792 in his 64 year' (3) diam. 17cm. and the other two h.16.5cm. w.14cm. Joachim Smith (1737-1814) was a not only a wax modeller but sculptor and cameo engraver. He started his professional working life in 1773 for Josiah Wedgewood and is recorded as working with wax during this period. He went onto produce wax portraits from life for use as models for gem cutters and engravers. His fame grew to the point where he was able to exhibit twenty-eight wax portraits at the Royal Acacdemy in 1793/4. Like his comtemporary Tassie he enjoyed great success as a modeller of notables and fashionable figures of the day. Literature For further reading on both Smith and Tassie see E.J.
