GERARD SOEST (c. 1600-1681) A bust-length portrait of Thomas Geers, Sarjeant-at-Law, signed 'Soest pinxit' lower left, oil on canvas, 73cm x 60cm (oval) Thomas Geers (c. 1643-1700) was Sarjeant-at-Law and Deputy Steward of Hereford. Geers was elected as a court supporter to James II's Parliament. He was moderately active, with six committees, of which the most important was on the bill for the general naturalization of Huguenot refugees. Presumably the King was satisfied with his conduct, for he was raised to the coif in 1686
