II - H., 39 - 45 Star, Africa Star, Defence, 39 - 45 War George VI Long Service and Good Conduct, Regular Army, named - S / 547529 S. SJT. A. W. Lawson R.A.S.C., Elizabeth II Meritorious Service medal with coinage bust and Britt (1953 - 54), named - S / 547529 S. SJT. A. W. Lawson R.A.S.C. and Cadet Force medal. Sold with a quantity of original Service records and photograph of the recipient, First World War Victory medal and two badges - Staff Sergeant Alfred William Lawson enlisted in the 11th Hussars in 1927 and transferred to the R.A.S.C. in 1939 and saw Service in Egypt, Palestine and M.E.L.F., left the Regular Army in 1955 to join the Territorial Army and finally retired in 1959 after thirty-two years of Service CONDITION REPORT Cadet medal named - A. Samuel Tonkiss (1909-1992), A portrait bust of Laurence Stephen Lowry, signed and numbered 29/36 from a limited edition produced in 1975, bronze, height 29cm (excluding marble base), together with a reprinted photograph showing the artist with Lowry. * Samuel Tonkiss was born in Shropshire and moved to Todmorden in West Yorkshire, where he worked as a journalist. In 1959 he began to sculpt a series of portrait busts, some of which were cast in small editions. An earlier head of Lowry sculpted in 1971 is in the National Portrait Gallery, London.
