Wyon, in fitted case (E 1206), some discolouration, and scuffing to the frosting, otherwise nearly extremely fine; The Royal Scottish Society of Arts silver award medal, 48 mm, bust of Athena right, rev., name and award details engraved within a wreath (...FOR INCLINED PLANE FOR BOATS AT BLACKHILL ON MONKLAND CANAL...1851..), good very fine or better; International Fisheries Exhibition Edinburgh 1882, silver award medals (2), 45 mm, view of Edinburgh Castle, exergue with exhibition title, rev. award details engraved within a wreath (CLASS IV AWARDED TO JAMES LESLIE C.E. EDINBURGH FOR DESIGNS OF SALMON PASSES and CLASS X AWARDED TO J&A LESLIE EDINBURGH FOR THE PURIFICATION OF SEWAGE FROM MILLS), some contact marks to engraved areas, otherwise about extremely fine. A rapier, flattened hexagonal-section blade 32.5 in., two short fullers pierced with slots; steel hilt with vestigial arms, shell guard formed within a loop interrupted by a double baluster and chiseled and pierced with decoration involving a classical bust surrounded by foliage inhabited by beasts, knuckle bow also interrupted by a baluster, pommel in the form of a helmeted head, braided wire bound grip.

Flemish School, mid-17th centuryPortrait of a gentleman, bust length, wearing a gold coat and lace collarinscribed 'Portrait of a gentleman/from the Guadagni/gallery. Florence by Carbone/Van Dyck's pupil Genoa', on a label verso, oil on canvas48.5 x 38.5cmCondition report: The painting is executed in oil on linen canvas which has been lined at an early stage in its history. The canvas tension is adequate and there are minor undulations across the surface. At the lower left corner is a raised area of canvas and abrasion to the paint layers caused by an object behind the painting, possibly a join in the stretcher. The paint layer has developed a network of age cracks which are slightly raised with a loss in the sitter’s hair. An old damage to the sitter’s left eye has been repaired and overpainted, this area is smooth and glossy. There are a few touches of overpaint across the face. The varnish has yellowed and become matte, no longer adequately saturating the darker paint layers. There is a light layer of surface dust present.
Manner of Frans Pourbus the YoungerPortrait of a nobleman, bust length, in an embroidered red doublet and large white ruffinscribed 'Portrait of one of the Visconti family...from Parma...' on an old label verso, oil on canvas61 x 45.5cm, unframedCondition report: The painting is executed in oil on a canvas support which has been lined. The dimensions of the painting were probably once larger than it now appears. The small area of curtain now visible extends over the tacking margins and it is likely the painting has been cut down. At the upper edge is a dent with associated paint loss and there are other minor deformations to the surface caused by impact. The paint layer is in a good condition overall with a few small losses, mainly around the edges. The varnish has yellowed and become dull with a layer of surface dirt present. A few localised areas of overpaint are present around the edges of the painting. Wooden battens have been secured to the sides and bottom edges of the painting.
Dutch School, 18th centuryPortrait of a bearded man, bust lengthoil on canvas26 x 21cm, unframedCondition report: The painting is executed in oil on a linen canvas support which is unlined. The canvas tension is good and there are minor deformations across the surface caused by impact. Scattered losses are present, mainly around the edges of the painting. Some of the age cracks are slightly raised. The painting has a thick varnish layer present which has degraded and darkened over time.
English School, early 18th centuryPortrait of a lady, bust length, in a brown dressoil on canvas64 x 48.5cmCondition report: Oil on canvas which has been lined at an early stage of its history. The canvas tension is slightly slack but the picture is generally in plane. The paint layers have a network of age cracks which are slightly raised in several areas. The cracks have imbibed dirt over time becoming prominent in the lighter paint passages such as the sitter’s face. There are old damages present in the sitter’s chest which have been filled and retouched. The varnish is degraded, becoming discoloured and brittle with abrasion around the edges.
