Ulysses S Grant bronze commemorative medallion, diam 77mm, obv bust left with legend “Major General Ulysses S Grant/ Joint Resolution of Congress/ December 17 1863”; reverse representation of America in clouds above stand of arms and flags, based on the rare larger size medallion, GVF (some cuts to edge); Virginia Metalcrafters pot stand based on the South Carolina State seal, diam 163mm, GVF (some edge nicks) in card presentation box; and another item. A scarce French 20 bore officers’ Model 1740-1750 Gendarmerie de France flintlock holster pistol, 18½” overall, barrel 11¾” with top flat and octagonal breech; stepped lock with flat swan neck cock and squared pan with unbridled frizzen, the plate with engraved decoration and name “La Chai-- Paris”; fullstocked with steel trigger guard, ramrod pipes and long spurred butt cap with silver grotesque mask finial, and with openwork silver sideplate incorporating laureate bust, and silver escutcheon surmounted by coronet and incorporating military trophies. Good Working Order and Quite Good Condition (repairs to fore end, replacement ramrod). Plate 58

Lis 1559-1560, bust 1F, wire-line and beaded inner circles, full, round, lightly crinkled, scarce NF/GF, with a threepence, piece missing, NF/GF, with a silver halfpenny, mm. Crescent 1587-1589, Spink 2581, NVF and lastly an Irish base penny, mm. star and dated 1601, a sharp strike but ragged flan, NVF, three have old tickets [4]

Star, large rose, reverse:- Cross fourchee, dress decorated, Spink 2595, crinkled hence flat areas each side, F together with a silver groat, Spink 2601, holed obverse top and looks to have been gilt at sometime, light crease hence flat area reverse, both with old tickets, [2]

Rose, salitires in cross-ends, Spink 2337C, full, round, striking crack into legend, rough surfaces, F, together with a ditto but postumously struck by Edward VI, reverse reads:- POSVI [Tower Mint], mm. Lis, annulet enclosing pellet in reverse fork ends, Spink 2403, both with old tickets, full, round, NF/F [2]
