BRITISH COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS, Great Britain, George III, Princess Charlotte, Betrothal to William of Orange, Silver Medal and Copper Medal, 1814, by T Webb, bust of the Princess right, rev figure of Hope standing holding olive branch, cornucopiae and rudder, 54mm (BHM 778). Both extremely fine. (2) The intended marriage of Charlotte and Prince William never took place as Charlotte broke off the engagement six months after it was announced. Perhaps due to the wrath of her father, she stayed out of the public’s gaze at Cranbourne Lodge Windsor until 1816.
