A Victorian eight-day longcase clock. Contained in a scumbled pine case, the arch painted with a hunting scene, with a 30cm painted dial, overall height 198cm.This clock retains the weights, pendulum, and the winder key, but does not appear to have been working for some time, and will presumably need attention/cleaning.The dial has had a certain amount of repainting, and there are a few losses and damage to the case.

The swan neck pediments have been cut and adapted for a lower ceiling. The case is in good solid condition. The pendulum bob has become detached the winding key is present with two weights.

Eight day longcase clock 'William Gardner in Uxbridge fecit' with 10" dial, cherub and scroll spandrels in walnut case with quartered veneers and tapering barley twist columns, the hood formerly rising, with original hook. Various restorations late 17th/early 18th century.Condition report:Case looks late 17th/early 18th century. Old oak carcass with some original veneers. Door may have had some restoration (no trace of key escutcheon) old hinges nailed to door but re-fitted old screws on trunk. Hood top old but restorations on slide and mouldings on base. Nice tapering barley twist columns. Fret possibly original. Old hook nailed on. Bun feet replaced but base seems to be the same as trunk.Movement with possible wheel and pinion replacements. Back cock and pendulum 19th century brass cased weights, probably original.

H210cm Condition Report: there are only two veneer losses, both by the hinge, the dial needs re painting as only when I 'torch light it' can I make out he writing on the dial. Otherwise it seemsfine !

John W Robinson was Mayor in Kendal in 1756-57.This clockmaker William Wilson was apprenticed to William Burton of Kendal in 1735. He purchased clock cases from Gillows and supplied them with a clock. Some of his clocks are displayed in Nunnington Hall near York (this clock was owned by a W Rutson, Mayor of Kendal 1772), and also displayed at Cannon Hall, WR of Yorkshire and Abbott Hall, in Kendal.Case has a good colour and a nice patina to the surfaces, some signs of small cracks to the hood sides, top central finial with wear and chips, front of the plinth with a central crack, trunk door slightly bowed, signs of old woodworm holes to the backboard and the topside of the hood which are now non-active, dial is clean, movement is clean. With pendulum and two weights.
