A Musical Walnut Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Tho Cartwright, Principi Horologious, Londini, Fecit, circa 1720, the Dutch style case with a caddied hood and three gilded finials, pierced side frets, arched trunk door with inlaid stringing and central glazed lenticle, bombe plinth with claw and ball feet, 12-inch arched brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, dial centre with date aperture, seconds dial and signed, arch with a two tune selection dial for The Fryar & ye nun/The happy clown, triple weight driven six pillar movement with anchor escapement, half hour and hour striking and playing the musical tune on the hour with sixteen hammers striking a nest of eight bells, 296cm high 23.01.15, Caddied portion of the hood has been re-built, case with some replaced veneers, slight fading to the trunk door, trunk door mouldings are lifting and with some cracks, bottom of the backboard is loose, case sides are faded, part of the plinth has been re-built and the bombay front appears to have been later added, silvered chapter ring is slightly faded, hour and half hour striking is not working correctly, musical tunes are working on the hour, strike needs re-setting, movement in going order, with three weights and a pendulum.
