David Hatfield, Bosworth, an oak longcase clock: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, the square brass twelve-inch dial having a raised chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, Arabic five minute outer numerals, fleur-de-lys half-hour markings and engraved either side of VI o'clock with the maker's name David Hatfield, Bosworth, the matted dial centre with ringed winding holes, subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture and engraved with bee and bird decoration, with cast-brass urn corner spandrels and blued steel decorative hands, the oak-flat top case with plain three-quarter pillars to the hood with cast brass capitals, a shaped top to the trunk door and standing on shaped bracket feet, height 206cm. * Biography David Hatfield is recorded as working in Bosworth having been apprenticed in London in 1732.
Lawrie, Carlisle, a painted oak chiming longcase clock: the later Victorian eight-day duration, three-train movement chiming the quarters on eight bells and the hours on a gong, the square twelve-inch brass dial having a raised chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals and Arabic outer numerals, the dial centre engraved with scroll decoration and with the maker's name Lawrie, Carlisle, with cast-brass c-scroll spandrels to the four corners, with a lever at III o'clock for silent/chime and at III o'clock for 4 Bells/8 Bells, the oak flat top case with full turned pillars to the hood, a shaped top to the trunk door, quarter columns to the trunk, all with later painted decoration including female figures and floral swags, height 206cm. * Biography Archibald Lawrie of Carlisle is recorded as working in Carlisle in the mid 18th century having been married in 1748; a watch signed by him is known to have been in the well known Ilbert Collection.

A mahogany eight day longcase clock, signed Owen Roberts, Caerwen, circa 1850, swan neck pediment, 14-inch painted arched dial, floral corners, arch with moonphase, four pillar movement with anchor escapement, 230cm high CONDITION REPORT: 15.12.15, Small pieces of veneer are lifting, dial with small areas of crazing marks, movement is complete, with two weights and a pendulum.
An oak eight day longcase clock, caddied pediment, moulded trunk door with a glazed lenticle, 12-inch brass dial, ringed winding holes, seconds dial, date aperture, five pillar movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel striking on a bell, movement and dial circa 1710, later case, 244cm high CONDITION REPORT: 12.10.15, Case has been polished, general scratches and chips in places, trunk door with a deeper scratch, later lenticle and door lock, re-built plinth, when the hood door is closed you can see a slight gap between the dial edge and the dial wooden surround, dial is complete, movement and dial circa 1710, later case of the same period, with pendulum and two weights.

NEOTS', with subsidiary seconds and date dials, the hood with turned columns with brass mounts, the case with reeded outline mouldings, 200.4cm high, 46.2cm wide. John Paxton (1756-1832) is recorded as working in St Neots in Huntingdonshire from 1784 until his death in 1832. Provenance: The Property of the Rt. Hon. Sir Mathew Thorpe.
