James Woolley of Codnor, Derbyshire, 30 hr longcase clock in oak case. A lovely clock by the famous Woolleys of Codnor. With 12" brass dial with sad mouth calendar, urn spandrels, single hand signed on the dial centre Woolly Codnor, with 30hr movement bearing all the Woolley characteristics Cut out to plate shaped back-cock and typical Woolley seat-board with oval shaped aperture. The oak case has applied brass capped columns to hood door, long trunk door with arch top, Brass butterfly hinges. Comes with weight and pendulum.James Woolley 1695 to 1786. The Woolley family worked in Codnor Derbyshire throughout the 1700 James was later joined by his son John Woolley.Condition report Good original condition all looks to be original and belonging. No recent restoration seat-board has small amount of packing but looks original.
A Whitehurst of Derby 8 day Longcase clock with 13" round brass silvered dial eight-day movement striking on a bell. Contained in an oak case with walnut cross-banding.Condition report.Movement and dial look to be original. The seat-board is new and there are unsympathetic restorations to the case.The Whitehurst family were famous Derbyshire clockmakers, starting with John Whitehurst in the 18th century and carrying on with a succession of family members who produced fine clocks into the 19th century.

John Thwaites of Clerkenwell. An early 19th century ebonised pine thirty hour longcase clock, with inner hours and outer minutes, on a 15 inch painted white enamel dial, single train movement with pendulum and weight, W.44cm H.212cmOverall looks to be in honest untouched condition, face is a little rubbed and worn particularly over the trunk door where the grain of the timber shows through, dial equally rubbed with naming almost indistinct and numbering now feint, movement looks complete but not tested for timekeeping, lock and escutcheon to the trunk door are later replacements.PLEASE NOTE:- Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any goods in which they are interested BEFORE the auction takes place.
