A Walnut Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Joseph Williamson, London, circa 1695, caddied pediment, glazed side panels, moulded trunk door with glass lenticle, 11-inch square brass dial with a silvered Arabic and Roman chapter ring signed, matted dial centre with scroll and ringed engraved decoration, date aperture and seconds, ringed winding holes, five pillar movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel striking on a bell, 223cm high Joseph Williamson was an eminent watch and clock maker in the late 17th/early 18th century. Apprenticed in 1686 and became Master of the Clockmakers Company in 1724. He was the watchmaker to the King of Spain and claimed the invention of equation mechanism in a paper to the Royal Society. His watches and clocks are exhibited in several collections around the world today. 09.10.14, Case has been re-veneered in parts and the veneers are polished, mouldings are re-ebonised, hood door with a later side latch, small dents and scuff marks in places, some small chips to veneers, later skirting to plinth, trunk door slightly bowed, dial and movement are clean.

A George III mahogany longcase clock, the eight day movement by John Boreham, Shimpling, Suffolk (circa 1767-1777), the dial with moon phase surmounted by "Tempus fugit" over a silvered chapter ring with inscription, Roman and Arabic numerals enclosing a date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial within pierced spandrels, the case of typical form with bobbin turned column embellishments, 239 cm high. CONDITION REPORTS Case : top pediment has a split running all the way along, left-hand side back of case has a split to the bottom approx. 6 cm long running at a diagonal angle, there is wear to the front of the case where the hood door opens and closes, signs of old woodworm to the top of the main body of the case and a section of moulding missing to the back right-hand corner, a section of moulding has been replaced at the bottom approx. 3 cm long, there is a crack approx. 3 cm long to the top right-hand corner of the front of the case near the door, and a rubbing mark to the left-hand side of the door, left-hand side panel of clock has a split approx. 20 cm long almost centrally to the right-hand side as you look at it, splitting to the right-hand bottom corner, generally all over there are cracks and splits to the veneer plus significant bruises, etc. conducive with age and use (see photos).
An early 19th Century mahogany and satinwood strung cased longcase clock, the case of typical form enclosing an eight day movement with enamelled arch dial with moon phase above a chapter ring with Roman numerals enclosing a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, and inscribed "Josh Weare, Wincanton", 214 cm high. CONDITION REPORTS Large split running all the way across the right-hand side top section of hood, several areas of splitting to the veneer to front body of case, and an area of filling in to the left-hand side top right=hand corner of case, brass column tops do not appear to fit, more filling in to top left-hand corner of the front base section of clock plus areas of smaller filling in to the front and left-hand side where it appears the top left-hand corner of base has been off, the front of the base has significant splitting to the veneer, generally all over there are large bruises, areas of scratching, etc. conducive with age and use (see photos).
An oak cased longcase clock of typical form, the eight day movement with brass arched dial, the silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals enclosing a subsidiary seconds dial surmounted by a silvered plaque inscribed "George Handisyde, London", 225 cm high. CONDITION REPORTS Case : there are two large splits running horizontally on top pediment, diagonal split running from the left-hand corner of the middle moulding running around the corner to the left-hand side, there is a corner missing from the left-hand side front lower moulding section, moulding on the left-hand side of the case is split all the way along, there are various areas of filling along the joins on the base section of the case, and on the right-hand side lower base section of the case there is a large square which appears to have been replaced, whole case has various knocks, scrapes, bumps, etc. and small splits conducive with age and use.
An early 19th century oak cased longcase clock, the 30 hour movement with square brass dial, the brass chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals inscribed "Ashton, Tideswell" (Thomas) and enclosing a subsidiary date aperture, 191 cm high. CONDITION REPORTS Case : Finial has areas of flaking, finials to columns on hood face have some knocks and damage especially the top left-hand one, glass to hood has been re-set and the putty is shrinking/disintegrating, moulded edge to central door on the body is chipped with some losses, split to the lower left-hand section approx. 30 cm long, lower section of moulding to body has splits to the left-hand side, lower section has a split running all the way across the middle, front lower section has several splits, and a further split on the right-hand side, all over the case is in a somewhat rough condition conducive with age, use and materials. Movement - having been inspected by our clock specialist who believes movement to be period and likely to be orginial to the case, but cannot be guaranteed.The seat board is probably a replacement ( see images) it is therfore not packed up or altered . All parts appear present but may have some replacements, cannot guarantee in working order - would recommend viewing in person. Circular area of dial 25.5cm diameter, dial total 28cm square.
