A Rare Walnut Eight Day Longcase Clock with Unusual Seconds Dial in the Arch, signed Bradley, London, circa 1715, the case with caddy top and fine pierced fretwork, arched trunk door with stringing and moulded edge upon rectangular plinth, 12-inch brass arched dial, dial centre with ringed winding holes and date aperture, cherub and crown spandrels, the arch with two silvered plaques signed "Bradley, London", 5-inch silvered seconds dial with a counter balanced seconds hand and interesting engraving of military equipment, with on the left side the flag of Louis XIV and on the right the flag of the Duc De Aujou, who became King Phillip 5th of Spain in 1700, seven pillar movement with anchor escapement set in the on extended plates and internal countwheel striking on bell, 245cm high *Langley Bradley born 1663 was apprenticed to Joseph Wise in 1687 and was freeman of the "Clockmakers" Company in 1695. He was elected master in 1726 and was a member until 1738. His address was Minute Dyall in Fenchurch Street. As well as making St Paul's Cathedral's clock, he also made ones for St.Giles in Edinburgh and Cripplegate, London. In the Sloan Museum there is a fine calendar watch by Bradley, this was commissioned by William III and presented to Sir Christopher Wren.
