An 18th century Dutch burr walnut cased longcase clock, Jan Henkels, Amsterdam The figurally mounted turned top above the silvered dial with Roman and Arabic numerals with subsidiary seconds and date apertures beneath the painted moonphase disk, the banded inlaid trunk with a cast brass lentice. 279 cm high. CONDITION REPORTS: Restorations to figures, hole to front fretwork, some veneer splits and bubbling, some veneers losses, hole to side fretwork, general wear, not guaranteed in working order.
An Edwardian mahogany longcase clock The case in the Chippendale style, the engraved brass dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, the fusee movement chiming the quarters on four and eight bells; together with a typed letter of provenance inscribed Made especially for the Late Sir Claude Graham-White for his yacht Alacrity. Sir Claude Graham-White born 1879 was one of the greatest pioneers of aircraft, winning premier prizes all over the world for his feats of daring. In 1910 he received £4,000 for a 15 minute flight over Boston, Mass. and in September 1911 the Graham-White Company undertook the first letters by airmail. 212 cm high. CONDITION REPORTS: Some scuffing, scratching, fading to case, some small losses, one hand detached, not guaranteed in working order.
