Bishopp, Maidstone, an early 18th century oak longcase clock: the thirty-hour duration movement with finned pillars and striking the hours on a bell with an outside countwheel, the eleven-inch square brass dial having a raised chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, fleur-de-lys half-hour markings, diamond quarter-hour markings and signed either side of VI o'clock Jno. Bishopp, Maidstone fecit, the matted dial centre having a ringed date aperture and unusually for a thirty-hour movement a subsidiary seconds dial, with ringed decoration to the inner aspect, cast-brass cherub-head spandrels to the four corners and decorative blued-steel hands, the flat-top oak case having three-quarter columns to the hood, height 193cm.*Biography John Bishop(p), born circa 1650, was a member of a well-regarded family of early Kent clockmakers and is recorded as working until his death in 1710. His son, also John, was born in 1680 and known to still be working in 1733 with Martha Bishop apprenticed to him in 1720. Three longcase clocks signed for Bishop are known where the high-quality of the workmanship is noted being very much in the tradition of the best London craftsmen of the time.* Notes Reference Michael Pearson 'Kent Clocks & Clockmakers' Pub. The movement appears clean. Cannot speak as to functionality. Diameter of dial 28cm.

WIGNALL OF ORMSKIRK; an early 19th century mahogany cased eight day longcase clock, the painted face set with Roman numerals and two subsidiary dials, with line inlaid decoration to the case, height 216cm, complete with key, pendulum and weight.Additional InformationCraquelure to the face, minor knocks to the case. The thread is missing from the pendulum. There are old repairs to the veneer, splits and losses to the veneer to the sides, old repair and losses to corner of the hood, same to the other side with a large split to the upper side panel on the right. Glass appears original although we cannot guarantee this.

Additional InformationCase has worm, heavy wear throughout the case with scratches, chipping throughout, old splitting, one side of cornice is missing, dial with chipping to the rim and bending/fold to the ornate surmount.
A late 19th/early 20th century mahogany small longcase with brass mounted broken swan neck pediment above painted dial inscribed 'Bullock, Bath', set with Roman numerals, subsidiary date aperture and with eight day movement above long door, plinth base and bracket feet, height 141cm.Additional InformationThe dial has been completely repainted, there are a few flecks of veneer which have been repaired to the case and some old restorations to the case throughout, it is possible the lower plinth and bracket foot section has been added at a later date. The whole clock has been restored and polished at some stage. The movement strikes to a bell.
