A Victorian pine cased thirty hour longcase clock, the square painted dial signed John Broad, Bodmin, the hood with plain pilasters, height 199cm.Condition report: Some areas of historic woodwom situated at the top of the trunk beneath the hood, on the corners of the trunk and on the very lower part of the clock. The clock doesn't work. I personally don't think any panels will need replacing as the woodworm is so old and the clock is still a good sturdy piece.

The case is in unrestored condition and would appear to be original, there are various losses and slight damage, as can be seen in the images. The total height is 222cm.

A George III/IV oak and mahogany longcase clock, 33cm arched enamel dial inscribed Anthony Shepperley, Nottingham, Roman numerals, painted to the arch with an allegory of harvest, subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture, twin winding holes, 8 day movement striking on a bell, the case with swan neck pediment, serpentine arched door to waist flanked by canted angles, skirted base, 215cm high, c.1820Anthony Shepperley 1783-1855 was of Long Row, Nottingham and also advertised himself as jeweller, cutler, fancy warehouse and lace machine inventor. From 1828 to 1844 he was partner of William Pearce (d. 1876) . He married Rebecca Dickson at St. Mary, Nottingham 15th May 1804, and in 1844 moved to21, Pelham Street, leaving his son George working at Long Row. His grandson Philip Shepperley was also a clockmaker at 5, {Pelham St until 1864.

In a crossbanded mahogany case with short shaped door, flanked by turned and barley twist columns, hood with similar decoration and swan neck pediment, with applied turned roundels and boss for a finial. 223cm overall height. Together with a copy of 'Moon Mechanisms, A Restorer's Guide' illustrating this clock on the front cover and throughout. (Pendulum, weights, door key, and winding key present).Condition report: General overall condition very good, movement is quite clean and appears to be in working order, although we have not had it going. Cheeks have been raised with an insert. Dial has been completely renovated. Case is in good condition and has been refurbished, hood is good, central finial boss may be a replacement and finial is absent.

Ltd. Regent Street, 15th February 1972. Removed from the Old Rectory, East BergholtCondition report: General overall condition good,movement is dirty and we unable to confirm if it is in full working order. Dial is dirty, scuffed in places, silvering is worn, some sighns of rust to hands. Case is good, no major damage, no obvious signs of wood worm, but surface is well polished and some panels have had previous holes filled. Plinth may have been repaired. Hood is good, capital of rear left column is broken. Gut lines are frayed in places.

Dial is quite good but dirty, with some minor damage around edges and along bottom. Seat board has been renewed and cheeks raised. Dial and movement possibly not original to case. Case generally good.

Dial is quite worn and difficult to read. Case has some damage to plinth, door is not a good fit and is damaged around edges, particularly near lock. door locking plate is a modern repair.

The case is of superb quality made of mahogany, swan neck to hood inlays to trunk of case. It bears the makers stamp John Hill Nott’s, on the back of the trunk door. Hill is a known maker of clock cases and is recorded at Wollaston Street, Nottingham, Nott’s as a clock case maker. The movement has unusual plates. An original clock
