~ An Oak and Mahogany Oval Shaped Dial Eight Day Longcase Clock with Windmill Automata, signed Wainwright, Nottingham, No.5, circa 1780, swan neck pediment, Corinthian capped columns, mahogany crossbanded trunk door, 14-inch silvered oval shaped dial signed and numbered, dial centre with an engraved landscape scene and a windmill automata, moonphase aperture inscribed above ''Time Sheweth The Way Of Mans Decay'', four pillar movement with an anchor escapement and striking on a bell, later case, 241cm high 05.06.19. Later case, hood with chips and detail moulding missing in parts, one piece of veneer is missing around the hood door, hood door with chips and small cracks, trunk with beading missing and one piece of crossbanding, plinth with scuff marks and small pieces of later veneers in parts, dial slightly discoloured, later wooden side cheeks, later wooden dial surround, movement looks complete, in going order, with two weights and a pendulum.

Hood sides with cracks and one piece of veneer is missing, trunk and plinth with small dents, plinth with chips and scuff marks, dial with scratches, winding holes with minor chips, movement looks clean and complete.

Case is faded in parts, later inlay, pediment with chips and later finials, hood with later wooden sound frets, case with cracks in parts, later skirting and later feet, front of the plinth with one later piece of beading added, front panel is slightly lifting and slightly bowed, wooden dial surround is missing, dial is discoloured, seconds hand is missing, later seatboard, small wooden blocks added to both side cheeks, movement needs cleaning.

Case is faded, case with cracks and chips in parts, some scuff marks, trunk door is bowed, base and feet with chips, dial is dirty, movement is dirty.
~ A Green Chinoiserie Eight Day Longcase Clock with Rocking Father of Time Automata, signed Edward Greatrex, Birmingham, circa 1750, green chinoiserie case with gilt painted floral decoration, trunk dial with oriental scenes depicting a pagoda, boats and figures, 14-1/4-inch arched brass dial with a silvered chapter ring signed, dial arch with a rocking ''Father of Time'' aperture, dial centre with a lunar scale and date aperture, four pillar movement with an anchor escapement and inside countwheel striking on a bell, 240cm high see illustration 05.06.19. Case is nicely aged throughout, gilt painted scenes are discoloured, case with cracks, chips and rubbing in parts, some surfaces feel dry and some shrinkage to the paint, door mouldings with splits, base with scuff marks, dial is slightly discoloured, movement is clean, with two weights and a pendulum.

Case with a later built caddy pediment, case needs restoration throughout, hood door with later hinges, wooden dial surround is later, hood with chips and cracks to veneers and some veneers are missing, trunk door with cracks to the top and bottom sides, half of the trunk door moulded edges are missing, plinth has been re-built, backboard is patched to the top and bottom sides, dial is dirty, movement with one dial foot not locating into the movement front plate, movement needs cleaning, with two weights and a pendulum.

Hood right hand side sound fret with one small piece of fret missing, case sides with small staining marks, case with scratches and dents in parts, dial is slightly discoloured, movement plates are dirty and needs a service.

John Rayment, Huntingdon, an oak longcase clock: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, with the twelve-inch brass break-arch dial having a raised, silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman hour numerals and outer Arabic five-minute numerals, the matted dial centre having a date aperture and subsidiary date aperture, with cast-brass urn spandrels to the four corners, the arch with a round silvered boss engraved with the makers name Jno. Rayment, Huntingdon and with cast-brass dolphin spandrels to either side, the oak case having a break-arch hood with three-quarter turned pillars, with boxwood stringing to the break-arch trunk door and having a plain base, height 203 cms.* Biography John Rayment, born 1715, the son of clockmaker Richard Rayment is recorded as working from at least 1751 in Huntingdon and died in 1795. He was succeeded by his son, also John, born circa 1745 who is known working in Stamford, Lincolnshire also as an auctioneer, silversmith and dentist before becoming master of the Ladies' Boarding School at Huntingdon.
Thomas Ogden, Halifax, an eight-day longcase clock with 'Halifax' moonphase aperture: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell and having arched tops to the plates along with finned pillars both typical of this maker, the twelve-inch brass break-arch dial having a raised, silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman hour numerals, outer Arabic five-minute numerals, decorative half-hour markings and diamond quarter-hour markings, engraved at VI o'clock with the makers name Thos. Ogden, Halifax, the matted dial centre having ringed winding holes, a date aperture with engraved surround and a round moonphase aperture with date as typical from the Halifax region, with cast-brass female-head spandrels to the four corners, the arch with a round silvered boss engraved with the inscription Moveo dum Moneo (I warn whilst I move) and with cast-brass dolphin spandrels to either side, contained in a modern walnut flat-top case with three-quarter turned pillars to the hood, a plain trunk and standing on a plain plinth to the base, height 226 cms.* Biography Thomas Ogden was a member of the well-known clockmaking family from Yorkshire founded by James Ogden born circa 1640. Thomas Ogden, born 1693 and the son of Samuel, lived near Ripponden before moving to Halifax in the 1740s where he died in 1769.
John Roberts, Dartmouth, a rare shuttlecock automata longcase clock: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, with the thirteen-inch painted break-arch dial having black Roman hour numerals with the centre having a subsidiary seconds dial and signed for the maker John Roberts, Dartmouth and painted to each corner with a depiction of a flint house with tower, the arch having a painted scene of a couple playing badminton within a garden, the shuttlecock moving between each player's racquet with each beat of the clock, the mahogany case with canted corners to the trunk, a curved moulding to the trunk door, boxwood stringing to the base and trunk, the hood having an architectural pediment with a brass eagle-and-ball finial between and columns with cast-brass capitals, all standing on bracket feet, height 226cms. * Biography John Roberts is recorded as working as a watch & clockmaker in Dartmouth in 1793.
