A late 18c eight day longcase clock, the 12 arched brass dial signed William Salmon, Horncastle and having urn spandrels, scalloped edge seconds ring, date aperture and sunburst in the arch. The dial centre is matted and engraved with birds, and the silvered chapter ring has Roman numerals and Arabic outer five minute numerals. The four pillar movement has anchor escapement and is rack striking on a bell. It is contained in an oak case with flat topped hood which has sound frets each side of the arch and plain columns flanking the dial. The long trunk door has an arched top and London type raised edge moulding. The plain base has a skirting with wavy edged base. The clock stands 80.5 tall overall.
A mid 18c eight day longcase clock, the 12arched brass dial signed Jonathon Beake, Crutched Fryars, London and having a matted dial centre, urn spandrels and silvered chapter ring, seconds and date rings. The five pillar movement was rack striking on a bell but has had its rack, detent and lifting piece removed from the strike side. It is contained in a flat top oak case with walnut crossbanding around the doors and base. The hood has a line of dentil moulding around the top and the quadrants around the dial arch have sound frets. The hood has plain columns attached to the hood door with Corinthian capitals. The trunk has a long door with pointed top and the plain base has a skirting with wavy cut out base. The clock stands 86 tall.
An 18th century brass longcase clock dial and movement, thirty hour, W. Clarke, Kendal, with weight and pendulum. CONDITION REPORT: The seat board is later. The movement does appear to be complete and intact although requires a clean. There is a small 1.5 cm crack to the square brass plate beneath the number 6. The square dial is 28.5 cm high and 28.9 cm across.
A George III oak and mahogany banded longcase clock, by B. Collinson, Kendal, with two-train striking movement, with two weights and pendulum. Height 217 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is extremely dirty. The polish is tired. The hood is in generally good structural condition. The door is not warped. The lock escutcheon is missing. The trunk door is not warped. The sides are in good order. There are no splits to the base however there are some areas of crossbanding missing at the edges. The foot moulding is missing all the way round. Both sections of return moulding are missing above the arched trunk door on the left and right hand side. We have both weights and pendulum. The metal suspension is broken so we cannot attempt to run the movement. The movement is very dirty but appears to be complete. The face equally is dirty. The seconds hand is missing. There is no catgut.
An early 19th century longcase clock movement, with dial by Mitchell of Cockermouth, with weight and pendulum, thirty hour. CONDITION REPORT: 32.7 mm wide, 47.5 cm high. Small amount of chipping to the left hand and right hand edges. Painted dial is crazed but intact. Has an unusual pink coloured patch to left hand side of faux winding hole. 30 hour movement appears intact.
A 19th century mahogany drumhead longcase clock, with circular dial and two-train striking movement by William Richardson Drymen. CONDITION REPORT: The hood is showing signs of shrinkage. There is a 23 cm long filled split to the right hand side of the case but this is not detrimental our my opinion. There is a 5 cm filled split to the right hand side of the moulding to the trunk door. There is a scuff mark to the right hand side of the trunk. There are no weights or pendulum with this lot. The moulding to the upper section of the base has had some minor repairs. The dial has scrapes and patches of over varnish missing principally between number 12 & 1 and 5 & 6. The movement looks to have been cleaned in recent years and although the majority of the workings look complete attention is drawn to some vacant holes in the back plate. The workings do require professional renovation.
An early 19th century oak and mahogany banded longcase clock by Carruthers of Langholm, with two-train striking movement and subsidiary date and second dials, the case raised on bracket feet. CONDITION REPORT: The clock movement is extremely dirty and dusty. The catgut to the going train is now snapped. It weight is applied to the going train the clock does tick. The movement strikes when advanced to the hour. The movement seems to be complete but definitely requires at least a clean if it to run correctly. We have both weights and pendulum. The case is in generally very good condition with no significant faults. Neither door is warped and the feet and plinth are original. The colour of the case is generally good. There will have been some form of pediment between the swans neck necks which is missing.
A Georgian oak longcase clock, with brass dial, 30 hour by Emanuel Burton, Kendal, with weight, no pendulum. Height 203 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is principally complete but in need of restoration. The triangular pediment is loose. The door is not warped. The rear right hand upright at the back of the hood is missing. The trunk door has a stress fracture. The movement is in need of restoration. The seat board is not original. The sides of the trunk are in generally good condition. The base is split and cracked and springing away from the carcass. There are losses to the base. We have the pendulum and weight.
