The dial 28cm diameter. The clock 52cm wide x 29cm deep x 203cm high. Qty: 1 The case with some movement to the joints and in need of some restoration. The movement and case quite possibly associated.
A George III quarter-chiming longcase clock by Thomas Richardson of Weverham The mahogany case with a swan neck pediment and inset with reverse painted glass panels, the arching door flanked by fluted outset columns above a crossbanded door to the trunk flanked by pilaster columns, all on a plinth base and bracket feet. The arching dial with moon phase painted spandrels representing the four seasons, centrally decorated with Britannia standing by a harbour. The dial with a subsidiary second hand and signed by the maker. The three train movement chiming on a carillon of six bells and a further bell for the hours.Thomas Richardson of Weaverham is noted in F J Britten as having made another clock circa 1780 with the inscription around the arch of the dial "That Man is Yet Unborn Who Duly Weighs an Hour". 61cm diameter x 28cm deep x 233.5cm high Qty: 1 The dial in good condition. The movement clean and complete but not guaranteed working. The case with some signs of repair, particularly to some elements of moulding around the top. Two of the three inset glass panels with cracks. A crack to the main glass covering the dial. Further minor marks, dents and scratches overall due to age and use. Some minor signs of old woodworm. A hairline split down the centre of the trunk door an further splits to the plinth base. Complete with pendulum and weights.
