An 18th century oak longcase clock, Edward Low of Chester, with two-train striking movement. Height 214 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains. When weight is applied to the going train the clock seems to be operating as it should. When the hands are advanced the mechanism strikes. The clock does wind on both trains. We have not had the clock ticking as the crutch through which the pendulum fits is snapped. The movement however seems clean. The date does not seem to be advancing when the hands are moved manually. The hood is in generally very good condition with no issues. The trunk door is not warped. There is evidence of a previous lock escutcheon. The current escutcheon is old. The lock is a modern replacement and there is also evidence of a butterfly door closer to the left of the lock escutcheon. The base is in generally good order although there is a split between the joins on the bottom panel. The bracket feet have some age but are clearly later. When the door is opened there is evidence of old woodworm to the left and right hand uprights but this appears to be long gone. There is further evidence of woodworm to the soft wood beneath the dial. The seat board has some age but is not original. Whilst the cheeks do not appear to have been built up the construction is not in our opinion traditional. The movement does however fit the mask very well. The case backboards appear to be original.
A Georgian walnut cased longcase clock, with moulded cornice above the arched glazed door enclosing the two-train striking movement by Jos. Naylor, London, with long trunk door and conforming base raised on bracket feet. Height 244 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains and is currently ticking away. When the hands are advanced the tidal aperture and the date appear to advance as they should. We cannot attach the strike weight as the top loop to the weight is broken. We have not had the strike operating. The seatboard is not original and there is some packing beneath the seatboard. Whether this indicates that the clock is a marriage or not we are not sure. The case maybe pine. It looks to have been fairly recently stripped and varnished. This have been a lacquered case originally. The backboards would appear to be original. The bracket feet, plinth moulding and short upstand to the base are later.
An Edwardian mahogany longcase clock, with steeple and ball finial and swans neck pediment above the arched glazed door enclosing the brass dial and three-train striking movement, with long trunk door and conforming base. Height including finial 220 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is in extremely good condition. The hood columns are a little loose but other than this the case is really in first class condition. The silvered brass dial is tarnished and somewhat dirty. The movement does wind on all three trains. It is however extremely dirty and we have not had the movement running. There is a pendulum with the clock however we do not think that this is the correct one even though it is inside the case.

There are some minor nibbles to the cornice and a few pieces of dentil work missing. Both the columns are slightly loose at the top but are easy to position. The left hand column has the rear of the top capital missing. The trunk door is slightly warped but does close and lock with the key. The lock and lock escutcheon are later. There are various nibbles and marks to the case however the condition is generally fairly good. The right hand blind fretwork spandrel has a small loss.

The hood has damage and losses to the fretwork. The right hand side fretwork return is completely missing. The left hand side is 50% missing. It would make sense to incorporate the remains of the left hand side return into the section missing from the front. The fretwork section above the arch has some minor losses and the material behind has some perforations. The left hand side Gothic window to the hood is missing. The right hand side one is present and has some minor fretwork damage. The trunk door is not warped and locks as it should. We have the key. The sides of the trunk are in good condition as is the base. The bracket feet are original. The backboards are original and in good order.
