Railwayana: A mid-19th century, circa 1860, longcase clock, the dial signed 'Gratrix & Knight Patented'. The oval dial measuring approx. 20" x 12", with subsidiary dials and two leather discs with patent coat of arms embossed on them, and two recording arms. Contained in a flame mahogany veneered case, measuring approx. 209cm height, 24cm depth, 51cm width. With weight, pendulum and a printed copy of the patent. Some slight damages but pieces appear to be present. Please assess photographs. Additional Information: This clock was patented by Gratrix and Knight in 1856, 'Registering the Speed of Steam and other Engines, &c'. The patent was for the invention of "Improvements in Apparatus for Registering a Permanent Record of the Speed of Steam or other Engines, which Apparatus is also applicable to Watchmen's Registers and other similar Purposes".
