CONDITION REPORT: Movement, dial and case independently associated, no glass to door, damage to moulded pediment, replaced moulding to top of main case, repairs to hinges and case with quite 'dry' finish throughout.

Monks, Prescott, a good 18th century mahogany longcase clock, the 8-day movement with arched brass dial having a pictorial polychrome moonphase, the engraved circumference titled 'As Time Goes Swift Away So Does Human Life Decay', and with engraved secondary seconds and date calendar to the inner circumference with third hand pointer, the Gillows quality case with boxed swan-neck hood with eglomised panels, the centre panel gilt signed 'J Mouldsdale', well and finely moulded turned pillastars flanking the dial door, the trunk door with engraved brass plate to verso 'John Dutton, Lee Park, Little Woolton, Nr L'pool', rasied on an ogee moulded platform base, 230 cm h o/agood original condition overall, movement running at time of cataloguing, hood finials replaced, as removed from private residence
Regency mahogany longcase clock by George Monro, Edinburgh, the moulded broken arched pediment with ball and Ho ho bird finial over closed fretwork arched face, applied spandrels, chapter ring, Roman and Arabic numerals, subsidiary second dial and date aperture, anchor escapement striking on a bell, flanked by Doric columns, shell inlaid trunk door, urn inlaid plinth and raised on bracket feet, 232cm high. Condition Report Nice, elegant Edinburgh clock. Minor losses and veneer peeling at base. Movement and dial belong and seem to fit the case nicely. No wheel to drive the calendar ring, otherwise movement is probably in working order.
