CONDITION REPORT: This has been entered privately and was in the same family for many years, the hood in the middle has an approx. 2" section of moulding away, overall very dusty and with cobwebs, left hand side of the hood has a vertical panel which is faded, the hood is very dark and dirty inside, mouldings on the hood look generally very good, some minor pieces away, some of the cross grain mouldings have possibly be re-affixed some years ago, evidence of minor historic repairs to some parts of he hood, the four pillar movement see close up images, condition generally commensurate with age there are some holes to the back of the panel where the trunk has been fixed to a wall at some stage, the right hand side of the case looks quite good overall with no major problems noted, some veneers on the cross grain mouldings where the base section meets the trunk are parting (just through age no major problems noted), the marquetry on the front of the trunk appears in generally very good condition overall, there has been a let in piece of wood around the escutcheon, lock has been changed probably some while ago, weights and pendulum are with the clock, the dial itself looks quite good overall with crisp silvered chapter ring and blackened Roman numerals, the hands are very delicately made and the quality of the pierced spandrels that are headed with cherub masks also look very god as does the foliate style engraving between the spandrels, there is some minor scuffng to the plinth base, the actual chapter ring is 9" and the main dial is 10", some minor veneer work (mostly all very historic), the oval glazed aperture sight glass looks very good overall(possibly original with old putty and bubbles noticeable in the glass), the steel strap hinges look very good on the trunk door, if the case has been re-finished it was a long time ago and is not obvious now, the movement looks right for the case but this cannot be guaranteed, most of the woodwork and the seat looks quite old though the seat is sitting on two wooden supports of different sized (see images), four pillar movement, we do not think the walnut has been re-veneered, there are two hands (a minute hand and an hour hand).
