An early 19th century Edinburgh longcase clock, by Robert Bryson, two train striking movement with circular dial, the case with three quarter length trunk door, quarter column corners and bracket feet. Height 204 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is in generally good condition. There are no significant issues with the hood. The trunk door is not warped. The sides of the trunk are in good condition. The base panel has a stress fracture. The feet are original and in good order. The door is currently locked and we do not have a key. The dial is fairly clean with only minor surface scratches. It looks to have been fairly recently restored. The movement is a little dirty but all complete. When weight is applied to the going train the clock appears to tick. When weight is applied to the strike train there is movement also. We have not had the clock actually operating. Both weights are present and we have a pendulum.
A mahogany longcase clock, early 20th century, of narrow form, single train movement with chain and pendulum. Height 185 cm, width across hood 20.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The hood is missing both finials. The left hand finial support is missing the very top platform. The door whilst not warped has no glass. Otherwise the hood is in good order. The movement is very dirty and we have not had it running. We do not have the weight, but do have the pendulum. The brass dial is very dirty. The case itself has some surface scratches to the trunk door and a gouge bottom centre left and another gouge to the right hand side of the door as well as some nibbles to the right hand edge. The door is not warped. The base panel has a veneer loss to the top left hand corner. The front left bracket foot is partially missing.
An early 19th century mahogany longcase clock with eight day striking movement by Joss Taylor Perth, painted dial, the case with long trunk door and raised on ogee moulded bracket feet. Height 214 cm. CONDITION REPORT: We have both weights and pendulum. The movement appears to be ticking away and striking when advanced. The face is in very good condition and the movement clean. The case itself is in generally good condition. There have been some breaks to the pediment but these are effectively repaired. The trunk door is not warped. We have the key. The sides of the case are in good condition as is the base. All bracket feet are present and original. The backboards are original also.
An early Victorian mahogany longcase clock, with arched painted dial with scenes depicting commerce to the arch and the spandrels emblematic of the four seasons, with eight day striking movement the case with applied mouldings and raised on short bun feet. Height 230 cm including finial. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is in generally good condition. The hood is in good order. The door is not warped. Around the arch there is a small piece of shallow moulding. There is a small section of this missing at the right hand side of the clock towards the wall. The trunk door is not warped. We have two weights and a pendulum. The right hand side of the case has a stress fracture to the timber would easily rectify. The base panel has stress fracture running from left to right. The plinth base and feet are in generally good order. We have not had the clock running, but when weight is applied to the going train it appears to tick. The same applies to the strike train. The date hand is missing. The minute pointer has had a broken end.
A George III mahogany longcase clock by William Taylor of King Street Whitehaven, with eight day striking movement, moon phase and silvered brass dial with centre date, the case with ho-ho bird set between a swans neck pediment, the movement flanked by fluted columns and with long trunk door beneath and all raised on bracket feet. Height including bird 237 cm(see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This clock is in extremely good order and could be used in its current state without the need for any repairs or restoration. The clock was restored +/- 10 years ago and is currently ticking away and striking as it should. It was purchased by the present owner from a reputed dealer for £7500. The case is in good condition all round. The trunk door is not warped. There is no evidence of any woodworm. The colour is good. The movement is clean and winds on both trains and is ticking as it should.
A Georgian oak longcase clock, with arched brass dial and two train striking movement with long trunk door flanked by fluted quarter column corners and raised on bracket feet. Height including finial 204 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is in generally extremely good condition. The hood is in good order. The door is not warped. The glass is not cracked. The trunk door is also not warped. The sides of the case are in good condition. The base boards are all in good order as are the original bracket feet. The silvered brass dial has some tarnishing. We have two weights. We have a pendulum. The pendulum bob is detached from the suspension. We have not had the clock going but if weight is applied to the going train the movement appears to operate. When weight is applied to the strike train the movement does strike. The movement appears to be complete although a little dirty. The case backboards have been replaced.
A George III mahogany longcase clock by Emanuel Burton Kendal, with eight day striking movement with centre seconds and moon phase. Dial width 13 1/4", the case with swans neck pediment above a glazed door flanked by columns, the case with long trunk door and quarter column corners. Height 232 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock is in generally very good original unrestored condition. The movement appears to be all present. When weight is applied to both the strike and going trains the movement appears to operate. It is however extremely dirty and the suspension for the pendulum is missing so we have not had the clock actually running. Whilst slightly unusual we see no reason why the compensated pendulum is not original. The seatboard is original and the clock is quite clearly not a marriage. We have both weights and winding key. The case itself is in generally very good order. There are no losses to the hood. The very top arch of each swans neck appears to have been detached at some point but clearly a long time ago. There are a few old woodworm holes at the top of the hood between the swans neck pediment. The door is not warped but has slightly sprung at the corner joints. The pillars are in good order. The Greek key work beneath the hood is all present as is the blind fretwork. The trunk door has no significant warping. It closes correctly. There is only a very small gap between the top of the door and the case when fully closed. There is a smattering of old woodworm holes to the top sections of the trunk door but these are clearly old and long gone (14). The base is in generally good condition with only minor stress fractures to the veneers on the front panel. These are not lifting. The bracket feet are original and in generally good order. The left hand return base moulding has a small loss to the rear. The trunk door when viewed from underneath does show some warping. This is only when viewed from underneath which is not a likely occurrence. The backboards are original. We have posted more photographs online which should help.

Height including finial 222 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is in extremely good condition. The door is not warped. There is a small piece of left hand return moulding detached just beneath the bottom of the left hand pillar. We have the piece. The trunk door is not warped. The base is also in very good order. We have the pendulum. We also have both weights and the key. The clock has come to us from a local property and was ticking away in situ.
