The backboard extends above the hood.The hood has repainted gilt terminals and the columns are stained, the hood and case have patches and areas of refinishing and is fairly heavily varnished. The old hand written label appears to state that the clock was purchased in Newquay and is dated in a different hand 1796.We have not seen the clock working. Pendulum and chime presentThe measurements are approximately as follows; height 170cm, 22cm width and 18cm depth.There are some slight scratches to the rear and base. The glass is in tact, the hinges work well. Overall it's generally in good condition.

CONDITION REPORT Dial worn and crazed, hood door detached but present (top hinge broken). Body door lock missing. Splits to both sides of plinth base and front. Top finial loose. Surface wear throughout. Ticks when wound, but does not keep time. Pediment roundels missing.

Hood lacking centre finial. Small repairs to hood door veneer - not disfiguring. Dial good with only negligible signs of age and use. Trunk and base box appear good, clean and original with only very minor shrinkage at panel joints. Decorative panel beneath trunk door is slightly warped inwards at one corner with an associated loss to the rosewood stringing.

Movement with several repairs, some of which are historic. Pendulum and weights not original.
