Edward Barnsley walnut regulator longcase clock, the hood with angular arched pediment, the circular steel dial with subsidiary seconds and hours dials and inscribed "Dent, 41 Pall Mall and 4 Royal Exchange, London", no.62959 behind octagonal glazed door, the trunk having door with two fielded panels, brass label to interior engraved "Sir William Waters Butler bequeathed certain monies to his friend Arthur Mitchell and this clock and case were commissioned therefrom, to commemorate 40 years friendship and work together. The regulator movement was made by Dent & Co of London and the English Walnut Case was designed by Edward Barnsley and made by him and his chief assistant H Upton in 1940", similar panels to the base, all with holly and ebony chequered stringing and wavy line ebony beading, on plinth base, 207cm high This collection comes from the late Arthur Mitchell from the brewers, Mitchell & Butler, who commissioned many of the pieces directly from Gimson, Barnsley and Peter Waals. He was a strong supporter of the Cotswold School and a good friend of Edward Barnsley, son of Sidney Barnsley. Arthur Mitchell lived in Cheltenham at Glenfall House and pieces from his collection are also to be found at the Cheltenham Wilson Art Gallery Museum in the Arts and Crafts Department

The movement having enamel face with gilt bimetallic repousse surround having twin weights , swing pendulum. The decorative case with glazed front having swing pendulum and inlaid stud detailing elsewhere. Measures: 233cms high x 46cms wide x 25cms deep.

An 18th Century oak longcase clock, Chaz Philpot, Bromyard With a moulded cornice above a ten inch brass dial the dial painted with Roman numerals and flanked by gilt metal scrolling leaf and cherub mask spandrels, the thirty hour movement with a single finger dial over a plain rectangular moulded door and front board on a later plinth base, 197cm. CONDITION REPORT: Case has been restored at some point, along with dial. The movement has been mounted on a later board, indicates movement and clock are a marriage. Board behind the clock dial missing and glass from hood door missing. Has weight and pendulum. Working condition unknown.

The movement appears unaltered but is very dusty and would benefit from a clean and service. The case has been restored and has a polished surface, the trunk door appears unwarped. The case has some warping, which is most noticeable when a hand is passed over it. The back boards have several holes drilled into them.Overall the clock appears clean and the dial fits quite well to the hood aperture
