Smith, London on a shaped silvered plaque to the matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture, with strike/silent dial to the arch, the well figured mahogany case with long rounded arched door flanked by reeded and brass inlaid canted corners, the matching hood surmounted by a rounded moulded cornice and small caddy block with concave sides and central brass ball finial, 90" high (pendulum, two brass cased weights and keys) ** This clock was sold by Derek Roberts Antiques to the father of the current vendor and is sold with a purchase receipt from the dealers dated 29th January 1991 for £10,000; there is also a comprehensive description of the clock written by the company. This clock also appears in the book written by Derek Roberts - British Longcase Clocks, page 157, figure 204

HIstoric repairs to the swan necks on the hood. The rest of the case is generally in good presentable condition, some of the crossbanding is replaced. Adaptations to the base and feet. Lot 1673

An unusual and desirable Mahogany cased longcase clock, the 12 1/2" diameter circular silvered face having a sweep minute hand having Arabic numerals, unusually the hours being indicated by an inset sub-dial with Roman numerals set above the six o'clock position, the seconds being indicated on an upper inset dial with Arabic numerals. The one train weight driven movement having a dead-beat escapement and maintained power during winding. The case is attractively plain with an architectural pediment, 20 3/4" wide x 10" deep x 82 1/4" high. The clock has been running for two weeks and appears remarkably accurate to within a few seconds per day.
