A George III mahogany longcase clock by Richard Marsh Ipswich. With square brass dial, having pierced spandrels, silvered chapter ring, engraved with scrollwork and incorporating a subsidiary seconds dial. Having open pediment, blind fret carving and reeded columns repeated flanking the main trunk, with strung inlay and raised on bracket supports, housing an eight day movement striking hourly on a bell, 237cm high. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Case in good order, no signs of wood worm. Dial tarnished. Sold with matched weights and two pendulums.

CONDITION REPORT: No weights present. Pendulum is present. Clock will work with weights and chime. Pierced grill on left side of hood damaged and crack leading from it to rear edge.

Impressive James Elliott carved oak three train musical longcase clock, the 13 3/8" brass arched dial signed Russells LImited, 18 Church Street, Liverpool, the silvered chapter ring enclosing a subsidiary seconds dial, with strike/silent lever at nine o'clock and chime/silent and Whittingham/Westminster chime subsidiary dials to the arch, the whole dial plate overlaid with pierced scrolling foliage, the substantial movement with deadbeat escapement and pinned cylinder playing on eight tubes and striking on another, the case with long rounded arched bevelled glazed door flanked by carved angel torsos over bunches of fruit and upon paw feet, the sides with pierced carved scrolling foliage, the panelled base profusely carved with scrolling foliage and the front carved in high relief with a lion's head, the rounded moulded arched foliate carved stepped hood also over complimentary carved angel torsos, 100" high (with adjustable pendulum, three brass weights, nine metal tubes and winding key) *This particular clock features in an article that appeared in Watchmaker, Jeweller & Silversmith magazine dated July 1950.
