A fine and small Queen Anne style walnut eight day longcase clock, Jos Fordham, Braintree, c1900, the 7.5inch brass dial with matted centre and giltmetal spandrels, the four pillar two train movement with brass plates, in well figured case with basket top, moulded cornice and spiral pilasters to the hood, the trunk enclosed by a full length moulded door, on plain base and skirted plinth, weights and pendulum, 186cm h Good well preserved condition with minor localised lifting of the mouldings, small shrinkage crack and veneer bubble on left hand side of hood
A SWEDISH PAINTED LONGCASE CLOCK LATE 18TH CENTURY 12" dial signed for "Myberg" Stockholm, eight day movement Approximately 244cm high Condition Report: Clock in working order. Will require a service. Lacking winding and case key. Both the hood and body door are locked. Case with the marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Old chips, splits and some losses - see images. Painted surface with the expected wear, flaking and losses. Some old repairs to case. William Varley of Huddersfield (Yorks)- Mid-18th century 30hr oak longcase clock, hood with a flat top and deep ogee cornice, wavy back-splats and detached pilasters with brass capitals, long trunk with a conforming flat topped door, square plinth raised on padded feet, brass dial with cast spandrels and engraved dial centre, Axe moon and calendar dial, chapter with Roman numerals, five minute Arabic's and matching steel hands, dial pinned to a chain driven countwheel striking movement, striking the hours on a cast bell.No weights or pendulum.William Varley (I) and (2) were 18th century father and son clockmakers working in Huddersfield (Yorks). As with this clock, William Varley (I) frequently signed his clocks with no place name. He was succeeded by his son William (2) in c1785. Thomas Best, Lewes, an oak longcase clock the thirty-hour birdcage movement striking the hours on a bell (missing) with an outside countwheel, with the ten-inch square brass dial having a raised chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, fleur-de-lys half-hour markings and signed Thos. Best, Lewes, the oak flat-top case with applied three-quarter columns the hood, height 200cm. Notes: Thomas Best is known working in Lewes, East Sussex in 1743 when he took Henry Alce as an apprentice.
Broderick, Spalding an oak and mahogany longcase clock, having an eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell with the twelve-inch painted break-arch dial having black Roman numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial, decorative corner spandrels, blued-steel hands and signed Broderick, Spalding, the arch painted with a scene depicting a soldier on a horse, the oak case with mahogany crossbanding, inlaid shell decoration to the trunk, a swan-neck pediment and standing on bracket feet, height 214cm. Thomas Broderick Jnr is recorded as working in Spalding, Lincolnshire from before 1828 until at least 1835 and may be the Thomas previously recorded working in Holbeach alongside his father as Broderick & Son.

A darkwood strung Mahogany cased Longcase Clock, the eight day movement having a brass face with Roman hour numerals and Arabic minutes, inset second hand and date window, the face having cast brass spandrels and a feature arch with a rocking yacht under sail viewed through a gap between trees, maker "Tho Bullock, Bath'', 19'' wide x 9 3/8'' deep x 90 1/2'' high approx, the hood surmounted by three turned finials. The face is 17 1/16" high overall and 12 1/8" wide.

The moon phase dial is bent, the pendulum suspension bar is detached and the minute hand is lacking.The hood is in pieces, and may or may not be restorable.

The arched painted dial signed Benham Collumpton (sic) and decorated with a marine scene and lighthouses, height 203cm.This clock is complete with a pendulum, weights, and key.It was working in the vendor's home but we have not seen it operating in the saleroom.
