A George III inlaid mahogany longcase clock, with broken swan neck pediment with floral marquetry inlay above twin reeded columns, the boxwood inlaid trunk with twin columns flanking the shaped trunk door with marquetry inlaid urn panel, on plinth base, the brass dial with silvered chapter ring having Roman and Arabic numerals, moon phase dial, subsidiary seconds dial at 12, date aperture at 6, the twin train movement striking a bell, reverse of moon phase plate is stamped Walker & Hughes, with pendulum, weights and winder, 229cm high Please note that Roseberys do not guarantee working order or time keeping of any automatic, mechanical, quartz or other timepiece. Case: With numerous areas of damage to include: breaks to swan neck pediment, with pieces missing and losses to veneer, chips to back edges of side of hood with signs of previous repair. Cracks to trunk door and missing pieces of marquetry panel. Escutcheon is also missing. Missing pieces of veneer to plinth base and losses veneer on feet. Cracks to plinth. Wear and cracks to reverse.Dial: With scratches throughout. Loss to top left spandrel and other spandrels loose. Dirt throughout. The moon phase is slightly loose, is bent and is heavily scratched. Movement: Scratches to backplate.

Missing lock mechanism to trunk door. Dial: Heavily scratched and crazed and rubbing to numerals and signature.Movement: The backplate with scratches.

A George III oak and mahogany 8-day longcase clock by William Rubottam (Robottom) of Tarporly, Cheshire, circa 1770, twin swan neck scrolling pediment, frieze lacquered in blue and gilt, 18.5inch x 13.5inch arch shaped brass and silver chaptered dial, moonphase, date aperture, Roman hourly numerals, Arabic outer 5-minute numerals, subsidiary seconds dial, engraved makers name, twin windup keyholes, 8-day movement striking to a bell, flanked by gilt top reeded pilasters, on fretwork above a serpentine top panel door enclosing two weights and pendulum, flanked by gilt mounted quarter reeded pilasters, moulded base, raised on short ogee feet. 225cm H x 51cm W x 26cm DNote: William Rubottam (Robottom) worked in Tarporly, Cheshire, in the late 1760’s and 1770’s. He recorded working in Liverpool based at 20 Redcross Street, between 1790-96.
