A GEORGE II/III MAHOGANY EIGHT-DAY LONGCASE CLOCKTHE DIAL WITH A SIGNATURE FOR RICHARD PECKOVER, LONDON, MID TO LATE 18th CENTURYThe four finned pillar rack and bell striking movement with anchor escapement regulated by seconds pendulum, the 12 inch brass dial with subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture to the matted centre within applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with diamond lozenge half hour markers and Arabic five minutes to outer track, with scroll-pierced steel hands and twin-bird-and-urn cast spandrels to angles beneath added arch applied with a domed engraved silvered boss engraved Richard Peckover, London flanked by dolphin cast mounts, in a solid heavy mahogany case with concave-sided 'pagoda' superstructure fronted with a shaped foliate pierced fret over moulded break-arch cornice and hinged glazed dial aperture applied with three-quarter columns to angles, the sides with rectangular glazed windows and conforming quarter columns set against bargeboards at the rear, the trunk with break-arch door applied with complex edge mouldings over a plain plinth base with ogee top mouldings.229cm (90.25ins) high, 48cm (19ins) wide, 24cm (9.5ins) deep. Richard Peckover is recorded in Baillie, G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as working first in 'Change Alley' in 1735 and then Royal Exchange in 1751 until around 1754. He is believed to have taken-on Quare and Horseman's business in 1733. Condition Report: Movement is complete and in working condition with no visible alteration to the mechanism, it is however a little dirty/neglected hence a clean and overhaul is advised. The dial has an 'added arch' suggesting that it originally was a square dial clock and later converted to arch dial. Bearing this in mind we cannot offer any assurances that it is by Peckover. The dial is a little dirty/tarnished but undamaged. The case has veneer patch repairs to the around the fretwork aperture to the superstructure - the curved top moulding has also been replaced with a simple curved strip (rather than the original cavetto profile). The base is lacking a skirt otherwise case is in sound condition with faults limited to relatively minor bumps and scuffs.Clock has two weights, winder, pendulum and a case key.Condition Report Disclaimer

The earlier movement appears to be in its original condition but has not been tested or seen working. With a weight and pendulum.
Walnut cased 8 day longcase clock 18th Century, the break arch 12 inch dial with silvered Roman chapter ring and Arabic five minutes, the matted centre with date aperture, mask and scroll spandrels, the arch signed signed Edward Newton (Fecit), the hood with Corinthian capped plain pilasters over a long door with brass bezel lenticle, standing on bracket feet, 233cm high overall x 41cm wide overall x 22.5cm deep overall, complete with pendulum and two lead weights The seconds hand is missing. No packing under the seatboard. It has not been tested or guaranteed.
Late 18th century eight day oak longcase clock having broken swan neck pediment above arched aperture flanked by reeded columns, the waist with cross-banded moulded top door flanked by two reeded Corinthian pilasters on a panelled base with ogee bracket feet. Arched brass face with Roman numerals, seconds dial and date dial, marked 'Tempus Fugit' to the arch and having pierced foliate spandrels. Eight day two train movement striking on one bell. English West Midlands, unnamed. Includes pendulum, brass finial and two weights. The face 45cm x 33.5cm approx, overall 218cm approx. (B.P. 21% + VAT) Overall appearing in good clean condition generally, with key and winder. No serious damage or losses. Fair wear and tear as expected with age.

Evidence of damp throughout the clock particularly the base of the back board, evidence of historic woodworm also to the back board.Some light rippling to the veneer with very minor losses, although no major losses or damage.Later brace added to the inside of the door which has later associated hinges. General light tarnishing to the clock dial, pendulum is corroded and also twisted.

A light and darkwood strung Mahogany cased eight day Longcase Clock having a painted face with to the arch a pastoral scene with a young lady feeding corn to a hen and cockerel with chicks with a valley and a church with a spire in the distance, the face having Roman numerals inset second hand and semi-circular date register, the name Josh Taylor W-Hampton and colourfully painted stylised flowers to the corners, the case has twist details, an elaborately shaped door, the hood having a swan-neck pediment and spherical finials, the centre being surmounted by a bird, 88'' high x 22'' wide x 9 1/2'' deep approx. (ran briefly at the time of cataloguing, winder present).

With three brass cased weights, pendulum and key.
